Its already been well documented and discussed on the farm.I must say that seeing the names of those big hitters does give a bit of hope for the future,as we all know people like Stapes,Daniel,Bloom etc are just not fitted to take the club further than the CCC at best.The acid test will be how much is invested in the playing side in future as well as the shiny new stand and the jury may be out for some time on that one.

With regard to Investment --

On the property side...

Am I right in saying that push will come to shove when the WC host winning bid is announced - when is that?

On the playing side...

Doesn't seem the ambition is quite matching what is being planned 'property' wise.

So now we know what the 'property' plans are - apart from how exactly they are going to be funded?

What realistically can we expect to happen 'team' wise in the coming season, but more importantly, the next few weeks?

For me... Getting rid of Fallon would be a move forward in so many ways - get a bit of World cup 'filthy lucre' while we can, and at the same time sending a signal of an intention to play the game, if not in a 'beautiful' way, well at least something resembling 'football'!

Whether it be a bloodbath or or a bathhouse, whatever Reid needs to happen, needs to happen fast and be backed and funded in a manner fitting of the recent pitch, and future 150 million pound Home Park - don't you think?

Here's the view from the CEO,Tony Campbell,in reply to a question about team investment on PASOTI Q and A;

"I believe that it is a question of prioritising the financial resources that we have. In an ideal world we would invest in both infrastructure and playing staff but whilst funds are limited the club feel it more prudent to invest in essential facilities as opposed to speculating in players.

The signing of players is not an exact science and it is so easy to make a mistake and waste money, as we have done all to frequently in the past. That is not to say that the board would not provide funds in the correct circumstances, if the manager identified a player that he really wanted and was confident in his ability, then the board would consider the request on it's merit."

Presume the essential facilities means the pitch,which i don't disagree with,but i'm not sure that i understand the "exact science" bit. Of course it's not an exact science,any purchase of a footballer is bound to have an element of risk.But it can also have huge rewards and Mr Campbell failed to mention that players such as Norris,Ebanks Blake,Halmosi,Buzascky and Mackie were sold for major sums of money after being signed for relative peanuts,so there is a balance to be considered.There was yet another stark reminder of what might have been at Wigan yesterday and in the opinion of many,the previous regime's concentration on property rather than players prevented our club from reaching similar heights,so i hope the new board give very careful thought to the purchase and retention of good players-ultimately it's the only way to go,presuming that they really care.
